Press Release: Insta-Cold Compress

For Immediate Release

Insta-Cold Compress is the only Environmentally Friendly Single Use Instant Cold Pack

The Insta-Cold Compress instant cold pack is an easy to use, high-performing ice pack which is environmentally friendly and is composed of non-hazardous materials, unlike traditional instant ice packs.

Lakeville, Minnesota – May 1, 2010 –Did you ever think about a common disposable ice pack as a hazardous substance? Many instant ice packs are made of ammonium nitrate, a hazardous material, which, when mixed with one commonly available ingredient, can create a bomb. And, ammonium nitrate ice packs – which are single use products – are not good for the environment.

The Insta-Cold Compress is a single-use instant ice pack which is urea based, and is environmentally friendly. Urea, a natural biochemical substance, is non-toxic, latex-free and biodegradable, making the Insta-Cold Compress a safer ice pack to use and dispose of.  The Insta-Cold Compress is safe even if the package is punctured.

Comparable in performance to traditional cold packs, the Insta-Cold Compress can be activated with one hand, providing instant cold therapy to give temporary relief from minor pain and swelling. The Insta-Cold Compress is stable for 20 minutes at 33° F, the doctor-recommended maximum amount of time to keep cold therapy on an injury.

The Insta-Cold Compress costs about the same as standard ammonium nitrate cold packs, yet has no transportation restrictions because its contents are not considered a hazardous substance. Therefore, shipping is less expensive, which keeps the Insta-Cold Compress an affordable option.

Made in the USA, the Insta-Cold Compress is available in two sizes: Small (5” x 7”) and Large (6” x 9”). The Large size fits into Unimed-Midwest’s Hot/Cold Therapy Wrap, which holds the Insta-Cold Compress in a comfortable open-cell foam and nylon fabric pocket and is securely held in place on the injury site by nylon elastic straps with Velcro fasteners. The Hot/Cold Therapy Wrap is also available from Unimed-Midwest, Inc.
